Molly's Retreat

What is it that makes Quilting Retreats so appealing?  Is it learning something new?  Is it the socializing?  Is it getting away for a bit of relaxation?  Is it the opportunity to shop at another quilt shop?  Is it the games and prizes?  Is it the food and no cooking?  Is it having a knowledgeable quilt teacher there to give guidance and help?  Is it meeting new friends and gathering with your friends?

Well, welcome to Molly’s Quilting Retreat !  It had it all!  Molly recently held a 4 day, 3 night quilting retreat at a hotel/conference center near her home in Florida.  She had never attended a retreat, let along plan one.  The retreat took 8 - 9 months of constant planning.  She baste her plan on an event that she would like to attend.  Molly designed two projects which attendees could select one to make.  One was a Poinsettia, the other a quilter Gnome.  She also planned for raffles, games with prizes, meals, and a pop-up quilt shop (a local quilt shop) to have a shop in the conference area.  Two local quilt shops offered discounts to the  quilt folks, a pricey raffle basket, and prizes.

Molly’s daughter, Amy, not a quilter, came from northern NY to assist as needed with the games, raffles, etc. All want Amy to be at the next retreat.

Based on the evaluations and verbal comments during the retreat, the retreat was very successful. All are looking forward to her next one.
